Pineapple Book Mark – REVISED

This pattern is a spin-off of the Pineapple Curtain Pull/Fan Pull:

Oasis Curtain/Fan Pull

Rose Curtain/Fan Pull

I  have omitted the plastic ring, to make it book-friendly.

Pineapple Book Mark Pattern

Materials:

Aunt Lydia’s Classic Crochet Cotton, #10 (1 ball)
1 inch plastic ring (Boye Brand) you can purchase these from Chappy at her eBay store here:
CHAPPY’S FIBER ARTS AND CRAFTS
Steel crochet hook size 1.25mm or 9

Rnd 1: *for bookmark no ring: Ch 10, join to form ring.
Or:
Rnd 1: work over ring as follows:

Row 1:  Sc 30 closely over ring, *To make cord for bookmark string: (midpoint of circle), make an 8-10 inch chain to length, sc in 6th ch from hook, ** (skip 6 ch, sc in 6th ch), repeat from ** until you get to the end of your chain, sc in beginning sc, then resume sc over ring for the other half , covering closely, sl st to join.

Row 2:  Ch 5, 2 dc in same space as sl st, ch 2, 2 dc (shell made), ch 3, skip 6 sc, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc in next st (shell made), ch 5, turn.

Row 3:  Shell in ch-2 space of shell (shell over shell), ch 3, 15 trb in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, shell over shell (herein referred to as S.o.S), ch 5, turn.

REVISION:
Row 4:  S.o.S, ch 3, 1 trb, ch 1, 1trb in each of 15 trb, ch 3, S.o.S, ch 5, turn.

Row 5:  S.o.S., ch 3, skip next ch-3 sp, sc in first ch-1 sp, (ch 3, sc in next sp) 13 times, ch 3, S.o.S, ch 5, turn.

Row 6: S.o.S, ch 3, skip next ch-3 sp, sc in first ch-1 sp, (ch 3, sc in next sp) 14 times, ch 3, S.o. S, ch 5, turn.

Continue in this manner until 1 loop remains, ch5, turn.

Last Row: S.o.S, ch 3, sc in loop, ch 3, 2 dc in sp of next shell, ch 1, sc in sp of last complete shell made, ch 1, 2 dc in same shell were last 2 dc were made, ch 5, turn, 1 sc in joining sc (between last 2 shells). Fasten off.
