After almost 2 years as an Activities Aid, I finally got my chance to move forward with my career. 4 weeks ago, my facility offered paid CNA training, and I jumped on it without batting an eye. I was so proud of myself when I called to tell Mike the good news!!!  Now  I am done with the classroom time, finished with a 92% GSA, equivalent to a B final grade. I am good with that, I know what I need to work on.

Today, I started my first of 9 days of Clinical training at a local LTCF. I worked with a CNA today; tomorrow I will be on my own. Not knowing the clients is the biggest hurdle. It will be a challenge I will happily embrace. I just wish it would stop raining when I have to walk all the way from the back street over to the front entrance~ mrrrrffff…

Since the schooling was paid for by the Facility,  work hours lost during class time needed to be made up. This month, I am going in at 7:30am every morning to make the popcorn (yes!), get the room ready for the next activity. I did good last month, working 2:30-6:00pm to make up lost hours, and only lost 3.5 hours on my last paycheck. Not bad, considering I worked my normal hours every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and will continue to do so through April. I haven’t had a real day off since school began. I did unfortunately have 3 days off for bereavement when we lost Mike’s Mom. She was at our facility during her last days, and Dad was in the hospital at the same time, flu and pneumonia, so I would clock out every evening and go sit with her for a little bit before heading to the hospital to visit Dad, and finally head home around 7:30 every evening….

We love you Mom…Mike is working on the Box, thanks for helping Mike with that. Dad is picking it up tomorrow.
