Hello, it’s Hump Day, the week is half-over. The month is over and we’re on our way toward Halloween Fun!

I’m in flannels and a fleece vest, brrrrrrrrrr.  It has gotten really chilly here, is only 43 at the current time of 9:15pm. It started getting dark around 6pm….well, the shadows became much longer and the front held that mysterious glow of pre-dusk. The sun is lower in the sky, past the trees to the south of us.  I didn’t get to take Igor for his afternoon walk, work kept me inside tonight. But I’m glad to be finally caught up.

We had a good day, finished posting the last of the orders exactly at 9pm. 5 minutes later, here I am 😀

I’m still working on the LumberJill Socks, almost ready to turn the heel on the first one. I’m not getting far very fast, but haven’t had time to work on them as diligently as I’d like.  We’re expecting my older DD and Baby (R)Honda to make the trip up around Oct. 22, after speaking with her today on Skype. I got to see Miss GigglePuss, who happily bounced on Mommy’s lap while gumming a pink Accent Highlighter (lid on) and dribbling on her keyboard (at least it’s not mine she’s dribbling all over hehee!!!)

And I’m going to get started on some Baby Leggings, and try to have them done by the time CJ arrives later this month…whew, I dunno, it’s gonna be a close one. I’ll get what I can done, and can always mail them to her later…

Hope you’re having a nice day, cya tomorrow!

Lumberjack Song

I’m a lumberjack, and I’m okay.
I sleep all night. I work all day.

Mounties : He’s a lumberjack, and he’s okay.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.I cut down trees. I eat my lunch.
I go to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays I go shoppin’
And have buttered scones for tea.

Mounties: He cuts down trees. He eats his lunch.
He goes to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays he goes shopping
And has buttered scones for tea.

Chorus : I’m (He’s) a lumberjack, and I’m (he’s) okay.
I (
He) sleep(s) all night and I (he) work(s) all day.I cut down trees. I skip and jump.
I like to press wild flowers.
I put on women’s clothing
And hang around in bars.

Mounties
: He cuts down trees. He skips and jumps.
He likes to press wild flowers.
He puts on women’s clothing
And hangs around in bars?!

Chorus : I’m (He’s) a lumberjack, and I’m (he’s) okay.
I (
He) sleep(s) all night and I (he) work(s) all day.I cut down trees. I wear high heels,
Suspendies, and a bra.
I wish I’d been a girlie,
Just like my dear Mama (
or Papa in later versions)

Mounties : He cuts down trees. He wears high heels,
Suspendies, and a bra?!

Chorus : I’m (He’s) a lumberjack, and I’m (he’s) okay.
I (
He) sleep(s) all night and I (he) work(s) all day.Yes, I’m (He’s) a lumberjack, and I’m (he’s) ok-a-y.
I (
He) sleep(s) all night and I (he) work(s) all day.

Another month is almost over, the kids are back in school. Halloween and our anniversary are fast approaching.

We spent a quiet weekend indoors, watching the leaves turn colors, some of them falling to the driveway. A cold front heading our way brought temperatures down and windows were closed. The Twins are getting bigger, their spots are gone and they are getting darker.

Saturday was spent processing orders,  making hair sticks and shawl pins, and catching up with contacts. Paperwork can wait another day, I just wanted to relax and not have to think too hard.

Sunday morning, Igor and I went for a quick walk,  then came back and relaxed for a while.  I brought all the cacti in, as the wind picked up. Later that afternoon, I worked on my LumberJill Socks  while an apple pie baked, filling the house with yummy smells.

These socks are taking me longer, but not for any reason other than they are something to do between other projects. OH, in case you’re wondering why I call them “Lumberjill” socks-the yarn is Knitpicks Essential Tweed, colorway Lumberjack Tweed. and since they’re women’s socks, I named them Lumberjill.

They look more like GI Jane socks, the color is very Army. I wonder what color socks is regulation for the Canadian Royal Mounted Police…

While the oven was heated, I decided to throw some biscotti in for the Cookie Jar stash, a quick recipe of Kahlua and poppyseeds, my favorite flavor. Igor was a happy boy, he loves watching and waiting for those nibblin’s that come during the cutting stage.

M. made BBQ  “country style” ribs, sauerkraut and roasted potatoes for dinner-Mmmmmmm! The house smelled sooooo good, it drove us nuts and we could barely wait for dinner-we forgot to stick the crescent rolls in, so they will be tomorrow’s breakfast :)

It’s “House” night, 7pm. I love that show!

Barb, can’t wait for you to get back, but I know you’re having a day at the beach :)

Have a good evening!

…you’re my only infatuation. Don’t leave me stranded in this obsession.

I am obsessed with the cuteness of these mini-sock blocker keychains. They are a whiz to work up, and a great way to use up the smallest of leftover yarn scraps.

Today had the feel of a typical fall day-overcast, but somewhat smarmy. The previous days rain helped to beat down the pollen and dust that wreaks havoc on our respiratory system this time of year, and later made for a rather misty evening.

We went over to Linda Godfrey’s house earlier today, to pay her a long over-due visit and also, to snarf up one of her latest books, “Strange Wisconsin“.

We’re gifting it to our neighbor for his spending 2 hours on a lawnmower problem and getting us back up and running~we think he liked it-he already has the first book, “Weird Wisconsin” , so it was only right that he should have this one.

Back to my Lumberjill socks, until more of the keychains arrive~

I got the pattern from a recent purchase and instantly fell in love with these adorable little gifty things!.
We got in touch with the manufacturer and are now taking orders for these cute little kits, from our website.
I’m making another keychain sock to match CJ’s Mommy Socks– I think she’ll get a kick outta these little numbers!
Back to work, more later!

…he stuck a feather in his cap and called it Mike-a-Roni.

Mr. is having fun doing photo-shoots with his new birthday present I got him,  a snazzy brown Fedora, and it’s like a carnival around here tonight-send in the clowns.

Mr’s handling the transition rather well, considering he’s been tossing the number 50 around for weeks now. He says it doesn’t bother him, but I think he’s in denial…he’s in a good mood, so that’s a good thing, Maynard.

I got my Keychain Sock Blocker Sock kit today, and am working on what has to be THE smallest sock in the knitting world~

*Note to Self…. smack Mr. into next week, if he doesn’t stop making porno-references to knitting videos on YouTube while trying to turn a heel!!! 😎

My new Knitpicks catalog came in the mail and there’s a pattern for a Christmas Pickle in it-definitely going to make one for our Tiny Tree~

Back to my Tiny Sock; will post pictures of Fun with Fedoras as soon as they are released!

“, right back where I started from.”

I love when I remember a song from way back. No, I’m not really leaving, but a vacation would be nice. 🙂

“Leavin’ on a jet plane. Don’t know when I’ll be back again. Obabe, I hate to go…” RIP Mary Travers, Peter and Paul will surely miss you most.

I went to Sharon’s  Surprise Birthday Party Saturday, it was great! Her daughter Heather put on such a spread, and I begged for the recipes, and noticed some in my Inbox this morning-will share in another post~

Sharon LOVED her two doilies, The Sheery Witchery Glass Doily and the Spiderweb Doily:

I keep up with Linda Godfrey’s blogs, and her latest entry was very interesting! I was never a Google fan, but I added her RSS to my IGoogle, and actually like the look of the homepage~worth checking out.

I reworked my KnitPicks LumberJill Socks- the Hourglass stitch got the best of me on my worst day, and not feeling good to begin with, my patience came unraveled by the 3rd round of said 4-row pattern. So I ripped it back to the beginning of my original 2×2 rib pattern and resumed the foot. I’m about halfway up the foot now, and thinking that when I’m feeling better, say, on my next sock, I might just attempt the Hourglass stitch again. It’s not that it’s difficult or anything, just tedious with sock yarn and #2 dpns. Lessons learned.

Two Giggleheads!

Two Giggleheads!

CJ called on Skype tonight, we chatted for over 30 minutes! Baby (R)honda bounced all over her lap, her attention drawn to some unseen object on the desk out of visual range of the camera-but for a second I got her to see me, and the end result was priceless,  a Kodak Moment 😀

Sunrise Socks, sunny side up! September 14, 2009

I finished my second pair of socks last week-I’m a tiny bit late posting, it was Labor Day weekend and we stayed pretty busy with outside projects, and visits with friends from M’s past.

I grew up in Citrus Heights, CA and one of my favorite haunts was Sunrise Mall-what teenager didn’t hang out in malls, even in the 70’s? I saw the Movie, “Dark Shadows” there, and remember being quite put off when they killed the Vampire, Barnabas Collins. I hear they are making a remake of the movie…but that’s for another blog. 😀

So, when I found this pattern, WendyKnits Sunrise Socks by Wendy D. Johnson, it brought me back to simpler times and I knew it would become a favourite of mine. It’s a simple pattern I named after one of my favorite memories, and my favorite Lion Brand colorpath, Autumn.

Aug. 24: One sock completed-I love it! I tried the Estonian Cast On for Sock Knitting – KDTV 212 w/ Nancy Bush for the second one-works great!!

Love this pattern-gonna feel great with my winter hiking boots!

I can’t explain it but I was more bummed by Paul Burke’s passing last night.

Patrick Dirty Danced his way into my heart, like millions of other moon-struck Plain-Jane housewives, but I never felt more than that for any celebrity.

I was just listening to the news and heard about his passing about a half hour ago. I learned he had pancreatic cancer a while back-it was splashed on some tabloid front page. I’m happy he lived such a full life and he will be loved for years to come, especially for his role in Ghost.

M. and I watch regular local TV hooked up to a converter box-we gave up cable 2 yrs ago when Deadwood’s last season ended and The Sopranos was on it’s last 4 episodes, with no future. Torchwood, (we thought) was also postponed, as well as  Hotel Babylon. When they did away with Hotel, I pulled the plug on Dish, and never looked back.

So we got used to, and fell in love again with the oldies, like Route 66,The Naked City, and One Step Beyond. We watch those faithfully every night from 12:30am to zzzzzzz, and always put the timer on halfway through Naked City.
Paul Burke was a broody charactor, but I liked him. When Mike punched him up on a search about 2 weeks ago, we found he had been in a ton of things we’d seen, just didn’t recognize him in his later years. He was in an episode of Wild Wild West, we saw just last week…I think he must’ve been in his late 50’s then. So, I was bummed that he was still out there but not working…and for some weird reason, I was bummed just thinking of him as an older man…Gosh! I must’ve had a crush on the Adam Flint charactor-he was a looker, actually, just brooding… sort of like having a crush on Mulder of X-files, not someone you’d really want to spend your life with, too depressing to think about actually.

So, it came as somewhat of a shock when we both read on Yahoo tonight that he had died-our favorite broody Detective Flint…

I am nowhere near done with my orders from the weekend, but that’s how it goes when I end up taking a couple sick days. The Orders Fairy didn’t show up last night, so I must find more time tomorrow-after we get back from Napa to find yet another part for the Rider Mower that went KaPut!

I have sewn up gusset holes too, I admit-it seems it is a perrenial problem I hear about in many videos, and everyone has a better solution to the dilema-none of which I have had much success with in my limited experience. My last pair actually didn’t have but one hole on one side, and a small one, so I am not too concerned. Nobody but me will see it and it’s so small, I even had to look for it.. 😎

I’ll be glad to get back to my normal walk routine without being winded after 10 minutes-in time ….I’m not one to let moss grow under my caboose. (I am being polite, my parakeet knows better and doesn’t mind repeating at random times) LOL!

Next blog, happy thoughts and some pictures of finished projects I am rather proud of.

Later~

Me~
