I’ve got past the point of no return, this doily is almost done, after beginning it over 17 years ago~I started this as a gift in 1994. Life-changing events happened, I moved, then re-visited project Dec 2008. I have the receipt from the purchase of the red ball of thread, still! 😀

I am seeing light spotting on this project, similar to The Horror….OK, who dribbled coffee on this one too????? OXI-CLEAN TO THE RESCUE!

RIP, Billy Mays, Oxi-Clean Pitchman. You have saved yet another potential disaster.

Christmas Floral Round, start date: July 1, 1992

It’s been hot and steamy here. The OTR thermometer in the Trailblazer glared 96 yesterday, and 93 today. The A/C has been on for 4 days now. It’s sticky outside, but I’m wearing a thermal hoody in the office. Nuts~

Little did I know what was waiting for us when we came to work today.

I went into the Storage room to get something, and when I turned around, noticed my own footprints leading in. That meant only ONE THING…….water.

O.M. G.

Let me stop and backtrack one moment. Last January, our well pump needed a new bladder-the thing blew out. That was about 5 months after we had to replace the water heater that went out. The water heater was just seconds away from springing a major leak when we discovered it was going Kaput!

I’ve always heard things happen in three’s, and this was the third thing in the past year. Previous to the water heater, we had to buy a new dryer,  in the middle of the winter. No chance of hanging laundry out then unless you wanted your cloths freeze-dried 🙂 We had laundry in every part of the house that weekend; we had already done 2 loads of laundry when the dryer gave up the ghost, no warning, nadda. Lovely.

Anyway, getting back to the Well Pump Bladder episode. When our neighbor Louie came out to replace the bladder, he had to move a drain hose that leads from the A/C unit, to a drain hole in the floor.  Of course, nobody thought to check that  when we turned on the A/C last weekend-who’da thunk??

When we got finished Shop-Vac’ing the carpet, there was about 2 gallons of uggy water in the tank and we could get no more to come up. Now we wait to see if the fan will air-dry it to some degree before deciding if it has to come out.

The Boss is staying away. His combined sinus’ and chest congestion will not tolerate all this dampness, and it’s no better outside today. UGH.

Tomorrow will be a better day. Toodles, Poodles!

I just completed a favorite little doily, from a pattern in South Maid Special Doilies for Special Times Book 364 Page 13. The original pattern is called “Sunny Morning” and is shown in all white.

I revised the colors and then named it when it was well underway-the fact that I was making it for my Life-Sis Susie, in California, did not have anything to do with the naming until it dawned on me the next day.

Black-eyed Susan

Black-eyed Susan

I’m contemplating making another one, this time in lavenders, and naming it Purple Coneflower-THEN it occurred to me it looks like a SUNFLOWER…odear, where does it all end???

I’m working on a dishcloth fun-project for my SIL-she has a condo in Door County, the Cherry Empire of the Nort’, and has decorated her “crib” with all manner of cherries. I thought this would be a fun gift for her~

It’s ridiculously hot and muggy today-Weatherfox says 83, feels like 103, very heavy. My sinus’ are killing me and with the A/C on, owww, my head hurts….

I finally got a chance to go through Nat’s Graduation pictures. I was really disappointed I didn’t get better shots;  a lot of the Ceremony stills were fuzzy, but I hope to have a video uploaded soon,  still on the camera.

WE DID IT!!! I’m glad she’s my last, the excitement about killed me this time LOL!!!

Pictures aren’t ready yet, I have to get on here and upload them all but I did get one on Honors night, the night before…

Here’s Nats with her Guidance Counselor/buddy, Mr. Schoepf:
Brian Schoepf and Nats, EAHS Grad Night 2009

Brian Schoepf and Nats, EAHS Grad Night 2009

I‘ve got videos and more pictures to upload, and hope to gawd they turn out-the lighting was less than optimal for taking pictures, it was rather dark up front where the Graduates were seated.
Nats’ dad and his wife Angie arrived  on Thursday afternoon. We met them at the front of the HS, where I dropped Nats off, and grabbed a parking spot with little trouble.
We went inside and milled about for about 10 minutes before going in to find seating from which to get good pictures and videos from. The bleachers seemed a good choice, so we parked toward the front, so we’d have a good vantage point.

After the Ceremony, as everyone was making their way down from the bleachers, Angie surprised me by pulling me aside and apologized for her behavior in the beginning of her relationship with the kids’ dad…and then hugged me! I returned the gesture and told her we just all need to move on, like our Graduate is.:) I’m so damn forgiving, I make me sick but I felt better handling it that way, and hope she felt better too. Obviously it has been bothering her and I hope I was gracious enough- a killer migraine threatened my every moment for the entire day and I’m not good at hiding how I feel, so I’m sure my face didn’t actually reflect my feelings at this unexpected act of contrition.

Nats and her boyfriend went out with them afterward for ice cream-their friend, Adam, tagged along for free ice cream.  He’s a Player *snorts!
Friday, her dad and his wife went to The Dells, a Touristy place up north-then Sat, they invited Nats out for breakfast before leaving town. They dropped her off at work on the way out, at 11.

I’m just glad she got to spend time with her dad and Angie-they gave her a super-awesome present after the Ceremony, a plaque Angie made, with Nats Announcement, a small photo of her we sent them, and had all her family in Indiana sign around the picture. It was the most thoughtfully put-together gift I have ever seen, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house when she opened it up-she just sat there, tears streaming down her face, and I bawled, for her. She’s such a trooper, and I’m crazy-happy for her 🙂

Mike did plan to go to the graduation but was unable to, despite our plans to enlist Jo to babysit Igor. I think Mike has Bronchial Pneumonia~UGH. He’s hacking up a lung going on his 5th weekend, now. He won’t go to the Dr. so I bought him Robitussin, which seems to be helping, finally. We’re stuck in the house for yet another beautiful weekend, so I’m crocheting a doily for CJ for her birthday on the 23rd and I’m almost done with it already.
Anyway, all in all, I am glad it’s all over with. Hope your weekend was a good one-stay COOL!

Pattern: Pretty Kitties Doily by Judy Jagel

The Spookeh Kittehs doily is working nicely, the row of cat faces is becoming evident.
Spookeh Kittehs, 80% completed

The chain rows will look better once it’s been blocked. Aunt Lydia’s Classic Crochet (Size 10) is a lovely thread. I’m thinking about making another doily,  a more solid pattern in orange, for an underlayment.

DD18  got her cap and gown  today, as well as her year book. Evidently, she passed her two big finals this week YAY! 🙂

She was txting me yesterday, freaking out because her online score only showed a partial grade for Chemistry, and it didn’t look good from what we saw first thing that morning…I called her Guidance Councilor and he called over to the Chem. teacher to find out what the story was. Apparently, they had not yet posted the grades in order-her extra credits ONLY were posted, which made it seem she was severly lacking enough grade points…but the teacher said once he posted the finals, it would even things up…and today the grades were out and she did great!!!

There was an Ice-cream Social after school for the entire HS, in which everyone got their yearbooks. Everyone got to go around and have their books signed-Nats had a chance to be with a bunch of her friends, and some of the comments in her yearbook are TOO FUNNY!

OMG, when she came down while trying on her cap and gown, I was caught in a moment, and my mind was taken back to past graduations. I couldn’t speak….8*-)

Day 2 of Spookeh Kittehs, the bodies are visible already!

Spookeh kittehs- see teh bodies?

Spookeh kittehs- see teh bodies?

I’ve decided I’ll post a Galleria of the project start to finish photos upon completion, to save having to scroll back to previous posts.

I’ve found that having a piece of plain white paper in my lap (the backside of the instructions works), I can see through the stitches and the eye strain isn’t so bad. Black is hard to focus on, even in the morning, but this isn’t so bad 🙂
